Default Re: Ross RX

Sorry for digging up a two year old post.

So a few months ago, I won a 490 Ross RX rod at a casting contest. I only cast the rod once at a family party and had not fished it yet. The rod cast OK, but I was casting it next to my 590 Sage One. The one was really, really good. The day of the contest we were casting the 590 RX and they gave me a 490 RX for winning.

Over the last few weeks I have been trying to decide what to do with this rod. Should I give it to my wife to replace her stolen Orvis full flex Rocky Mountain 586? Or should I keep it as a backup to my 490 sage sp that needs to be rebuilt? Last week I was able to pick up a replacement rod for my wife's Orvis for a 100 bucks.

So I decided to go out and cast the rod. Well, I got out a line and went out and cast the 490 Ross RX today. I wanted to cast it on its own terms and not on the terms of a high end rod next to it. I gotta admit. Not a bad rod and one that I will be keeping in my quiver. It still had pretty good feel and was certainly capable of really bombing out some casts. Like i said, on its own terms, it was not bad.
