Default Flyrod as a gift for beginner

Hello, I'm looking at buying my dad a flyrod as a gift. he used to play around with some flyrods but never really learned how to use it and I think he gave up. We are going up to canada this year and I would like to get him a rod that would handle local steelhead, salmon and Pike. I know I have alot of tutoring ahead of me before the trip, but I'm just wondering if there are any suggestions of some good rods that can throw some big streamers and bunny flies for pike that isn't too fast. I was thinking of maybe a tfo professional, or a tfo ticr and uplining it 1 wt. both rods I was thinking of getting in an 8wt for him.

I have the tfo professional 4pc and enjoy it, but I would like to make it easier for him to get some line out with a wind resistant fly.

I would go for the 9 wt Pro for what you are describing rather than the 8 wt. Bunny flies are like tossing wet socks and the extra oomph of the 9 wt with the forgiving nature of the Pro series rods make that rod my favorite pike fishing stick.

For the record, I own quite a few TFO rods in several line weights from about 6 different series. I also have several other much more expensive high end rods. All told, I have a choice of about a dozen 8/9 wt rods in my closet I could take pike fishing,,,,but I pretty much have used the Pro almost exclusively the last few years.
