Re: Cabelas Traditional II

I bought one for my son as his first fly rod, mainly because it was on sale as a complete outfit for $109. It is a bit tip heavy but not bad for the price. Don't expect it to feel like a premium rod. It isn't...it is a functional beginners rod or a rod for an occasional fisherman. With that said, the 6 weight I bought casts okay and fishes okay. For the price paid, it is not a disappointment. However, if I were shopping for an inexpensive rod today, I'd take a closer look at rods made by Temple Fork or Echo. I no longer see the Echo Classic on there web site and assume it is discontinued--if so there may be deals to be had on them.
