bluexpec is on a distinguished road
Default Re: Rod sections Pros and cons

I'm trying to choose between a bamboo fly rod and a normal mid action fly rod. I want to buy from a site called reelandrod.net and they give a lot of praise to the bamboo rod, but it's very expensive.

Is the difference that big?

pardon me, but i didn't even read the othe replies. my 2 cents:

the only significant differences nowadays are rod weight and length of case. a rod with more pieces is going to weigh noticeably more than the same rod with fewer pieces due to the extra ferrule hardware. and when you are traveling on public transportation (air, bus, or train), being able to fit your rod tubes inside your luggage is REALLY nice. so it's give and take.
