Rib: 34 Gauge gold wire
Thorax: Peacock herl
Thread: 8/0 Lt. Olive UNI-Thread


Realistic Golden Stone

Hook: 2xl Curved nymph/hopper size 6
Thread : Yellow Uni-thread size 6/0
Lead: .030 2 pieces tied along each side of hook shank
Abdomen: Translucent Nymph Skin or Tournque material
Tail: 2lb Maxima tippet material
Thorax: Golden Stonefly dubbing or a lighter yellow dubbing
Back: Soft Shell Golden Stone – size Large from Montana Fly –
Super Glue to dubbing (I add thread wraps between each
leg section and add durability then put head cement over
thread in dull the thread down some.)
Coloring : Prism Markers – Brown on the back and Lemon Yellow on bottom

You can also use Olive Dubbing for the Thorax then it's becomes what I call The Greenie Meanie,also I don't use heavy beads.


Mallard and Peacock Stillwater Nymph

Hook: Nymph 2xl
Thread: Tan
Tail: Mallard flank- do not trim exceess, this will be folded forward over body to form "shellback"
Rib: Ultrawire small
Body: Peacock Herl
Hackle: Grizzly palmered over body
Shellback: Mallard flank butts from tail pulled over back and tied down

Bead: Gun metal colored brass
Thread: Black
Tail - peacock tips (six of the thirteen flies have pheasant flank but I finished with the peacock because I liked it better)
Body: First a layer of black rubber strand
-second, palmered ostrich (dark brown) trimmed top and bottom
-third, purple flash strand up the back for the stripe
-fourth, brown wire rib
Thorax: Peacock herl

Tail, abdomen, wingcase and legs: Pheasant tail fibers
Rib: Fine copper wire

Wingcase: Back raffia with a continued purple flash strand for the stripe

Very nice bunch of flies guys.

The recipe for mine is:

Tail + Abdomen - Red Pheasant Tail (you can use any color, but red worked well on the trout they stock in the urban ponds around here)

Wing Bud: White Z-lon and a small bit of crystal flash on either side.

Thorax: AZ Sparkle Dub - Blood Leech

Bead: Copper (I also tie these with a root beer colored glass bead)

Agreed! I thought the photos were great, but when I got home last night, the flies were there, and I looked at them, they are even better "close-up"! The quality was very humbling. It helped remind me of how much more I have to practice and learn! Great additions to my fly boxes!

This and the simultainious Dry Fly, Clossier Pattern, and Spring Brook Trout Swaps were the first four swaps that I have participated in, and I'm now CERTAINLY glad that I did!!!!

I agree beaut Flies,I'm awaiting their arrival,I've also enjoyed being in all of The Swaps.

Mark once again Thanks for your mamoth effort,now I will have to get busy & finish Tyeing The 3 1/2 dozen for The other 3 Swaps & am looking foward to recieving The Swaps in June.
