Default Re: Scud or Chironomid swap!

Everyone else has posted pictures or at least a recipe so I figured I should do the same.

Cab's Olive Scud
Hook TMC 100 #12
Thread Olive 6/0
Antenna Olive Marabou Tips
Tail Olive Marabou Tips
Weight 8-10 Wraps of .015 Lead-Free Wire
Body Homemade olive "lint trap" dubbing
Shell Holographic pearl Mylar
Ribbing 3X clear tippet
Legs Teased out dubbing

Note- the lint trap dubbing is a mix of 3 colors of acrylic yarns, 2 colors of wool yarns, tan mutt soft undercoat, black lab guard hair, and Angelina fibers for flash. It is an overall olive color, but has several accent colors up close for a really buggy look. Hopefully my insert table function worked.
Cabot

Glad to hear we got more people, I can't wait to see what the others tied.

I guess I should probably explain, there is no actual dyer lint involved. The first time I mixed up this batch of dubbing my wife said, "it kinda looks like something out of a lint trap." And the rest is history.

Angelina fibers are what go into Ice Dubbing to make it sparkle. I got the idea and a sample of the stuff from the Mastermind Singlebarbed. Here is the actually post explaining the stuff.

thought so...but with those ingredients I couldn't resist.

coolest pic on this thread so far IMO is kelly's of that monster with scuds pouring out its mouth. How cool is that and then to see his color match

which leads to a question. I've heard of "pumping" a fish stomach...how is it done and can it be done without harming the trout?

As I mentioned, The SUNSET SOWBUG. Big hit here:

But, I got to tying and decided to include my Blue Buzzer:

As far as the stomach, it is like a small turkey baster. Fill it with water, then gentally slide it down the fishes mouth. Gentally squeeze water out into stomach and it will suck whatever is floating in there.
Pull it out and squeeze the ball in your hand or a container...pretty awesome.
It can save a trip sometimes:
