Vintage Tin Fly Box: Latest Nymph Fly Swap Inside
Hey folks,
Thought you all might like to see pics of all the flies together (less mine):o Also I picked up a vintage tin at the flea market. Perfect thickness for flies. Foam came from Michael's craft store. :D http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/...0-IMG_1603.jpg http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/...8-IMG_1594.jpg cheers phil |

Hey Noreaster, you can get the Wheatly style clips from REC to make a wicked little streamer box, slap some sheep's fleece on the lid for a few extras. If I were you though I would spay the inside and out with brass lamp varnish, the name escapes me right now but it'll help keep the old tins from rusting. I'm loving the style of the old tins man really cool, and would buy some in heart beat!

I think I will get to the point where all my gear will be vintage. I just love the old stuff. My favorite is the old canvas postal letter carrier's bag my dad used to use for his fishing bag. Its pictured in my avatar above to the left with my rod. It's in a constant state of restoration, but I would never part with it.. And never be without it on the water. I'd like to find an antique dip net, a nice old reel and someday a great bamboo rod. I will be patient waiting for unsuspecting deals to come along.:D |

Awesome fly box.. I too have made plenty of them out of Sucrets and Altoids tins in the past.. lot cheaper than dishing out $10+ for what other retailers would refer to as a "minimalist fly box"
