Default BWO Life Cycle Swap

Webrx's post on matching the hatch is the inspiration for this one.

Since Blue Winged Olives (actually representing many different species) hatch all over the country, I thought this one might be interesting. Let's try a swap where we each tie up 12 of our favorite nymph or emerger or dun or spinner pattern for this hatch.

So if you're interested, sign up for one of the categories below and tie 12. Hopefully we'll all end up with 3 different patterns of nymphs, emergers, duns and spinners.

I'll jump in to round out one of the categories. I'll PM all participants with my address. How about a due date of May 1?

Since BWO's tend to be small, lets keep them all size 16 or smaller.

Nymph
1. webrx -Flash Back Pheasant Tail Nymph ---- RECEIVED
2. Pocono - nymph size 18
3.

Emerger
4. Mark (peregrines) Baetis CDC Emerger 20
5.
6.

Dun
7. dshort BWO Quill Bodied CDC Comparadun------ RECEIVED
8.
9.

Spinner
10. Steve (Whizzer) Rusty Spinner ---- RECEIVED
11.
12.

All levels of tyers are welcome.

I'll play, how about putting me down for a nymph, not doing so well on dry flies in size 16 or smaller.

Wow, not sure why, but tying on a 16 is a lot harder then a 14, maybe its the eyes. In any case, after 3 ok flies, I finally got a decent looking nymph. No bead heads though, I don't have anything that will slide around the tight bend of a mustad 3906 nymph hook.

got one done, only 11 more to go

Dave,

Yeah the sproat bend of the Mustad 3906 and 3906B doesn't accept hooks very well. I usually use Mustad 9671 or 9672 for beads.

Pace yourself--- you have plenty of time (until May 1.)
