Give me a Spring Creek and I'm very content.

#2 choice would be a tailwater, small or big.

I much prefer spring creeks, too bad half of them close with the fishing season.

Small freestone creeks; what you find a lot of in the Poconos and Catskills. Shallow water, good riffles and runs; lots of pocket water. Gorgeous scenery. Always challenging to get a good dead drift with either a dry or a nymph when fishing over multiple seams and varying water speeds. Best fish for me, a native Brookie in Fall colors!

I voted for spring creeks, but I really mean "pocket water". I guess I really mean the sort of small freestone stream like you find in a mountain range. That's my favorite type of water to fish.

I mostly fish small tailwaters because they're close to home (within 20 or so miles of Cheesman Dam, Spinney, Antero, Elevenmile etc.) Been wanting to fish the the Arkansas (freestone) this year but right now I'm putting in a lot of OT at work and the flows are still high.
As for a favorite though? All of them.
I never met a fish I didn't like.

I'm in the same boat as yatahey, lots of little rivers near by, but I like any water that has fish in it.

I like pocket water b/c not many people seem to fish it. Back water eddies are good too.

Lakes are where I want to be at ! Most of the streams and rivers here get pretty crowded ! put me on a lake in my pontoon where I can some solitude ,and I'm a happy camper. I used to fish shoulder to shoulder with 40 to 50 people in the same pool . Rotational angling is not for me ! Nowadays I want the peace and quiet. And I find that mostly on the interior lakes. There is nothing like having a lake to yourself !!!
