Favorite number of rod pieces?

4 pc is my all around favorite.

I prefer a 2 piece for ease of set up, take down, and going from one site to another. However, for transport of rods, my preference changes because, even though my car holds a 2 piece in 9' or less, it takes up more space than I like. Therefore, I prefer 3 piece for rods 8' and less, and a 4 piece for longer. Seeing as I prefer 8' and less, my vote has to be for the 3 piece.

I understand the convenience of 4 piece rods. I own 3. However I prefer 2 piece rods. Most rods I fish are 8 foot and under so no biggie. I like the ease of which you can align a 2 piece. Plus I feel they perform better. Maybe its not true, however I am a bit superstitious and stubborn. Bad combo. I have always believed fewer breaks, or moving parts meant a more stream lined smooth performance.
Anyone ever cast a one piece rod? Hardy makes one. Not very convenient but I bet it's smooth.

I am pretty much a 1 river man these days so a 2 pice works just fine for me. In the event of a trip to another river on the lake we use a big boat 32"er) so lots of times the rods stay together in the jet skiff on the back of my gillnetter. The Copper will easily keep me occupied until I leave the scene!

I like 4 piece, easier to pack for hiking and to pack onto my motorcycle if I decide to ride.

The actions of rods have improved so drastically over the years, there is no reason not to have a 4 piece.

4 pieces is my preference. Simple, compact and travel ready at all times.

I like two piece rods.
I find that even on my 4 piece rods, I break them down into only two pieces most of the time.

I like 2 piece rods the best, but have 3 and 4 piece ones too. I can put my 4 piece 11' 3wt. in the rod holder in one piece in my van. so all my rods stay together in there. it holds 4 or 8 rods..

4. Although a 2 or 3 is always nice for simple setup. I find myself enjoying the compact setup of a 4 piece though.
