How Many Fly Rods Do You Own

I don't know where you live, but for most Western US fishing, all one needs to get by are a 5 and an 8 weight. The 5 weight can cover most trout situations, Smallmouth Bass, and panfish. The 8 weight can cover Steelhead, light salmon usage, Striped Bass, and Largemouth Bass.

But of course, we all could use 1 more rod.

There is no such thing as to many rods. I am right now building a new 12 wieght for lake trout. Counting spey rods this will make ten. I am making it this big so I can roll cast a Rio Levithan sinking head and then shake a running line out of the rod as it sinks. Mark fish, stop, drop the line , when the fish come up pull the fly up and make 'em chase it. Bang fish. After that I think I'll build a spey rod in the 18' zone just for banging casts into a new zip code. There is always something new and fun to do. You can never have to many rods. I took my 15' Meiser to the bottom of the rapids at the rapid river and tossed clousers for walleye. I can't think of many things that are more fun.

I think I was up to around two dozen at one point but for the past few years I've been downsizing.
There's maybe 10 or 12 out of what's left that I actually use so I still have a ways to go

Fly Goddess, Nine 5 wt's.....you must loan that size out. That is the size TFO I have and I really like it. I guess when you consider the only other rod I have and have used is a White River BPS special, I really probably havent done enough FF'ing. I picked up a Reddington 9ft 9 wt but I have not used it yet...
