Somebody has to be the oddball................ the poll only allowed one choice and I took Partridge because I like their old Salmon hooks, the Tiemco's are ones I use a lot of also and I use Mustad but I like the Partridge best. I use a hook hone if I think they need a better point.

Opps,

I just stopped at the Sportsman's Warehouse and picked up a bunch of Gamakatsu Salmon hooks. The choice was them or Mustad, or Tiemco and I choose the Gamakatsu based on the curve of the bend. They have a nice artful curve to them.

I'll wrap some stuff on a few and post them.

No KIDDING! They are cool. I bought some C15BV in an 18. They are Barbless and Vertical EYE. Make really cool Klinkhammers! Very thin wire though but sharp as heck.

I use tiemco 200r's a lot; I like mustad3906b's for bigger wet flies and Pocono had me into using those 102Y's for the smaller wets.

Those 200blr are my favorite also. You can tie anything on them. And I love straight eyes.
But, they are getting hard to find for some reason. I found some today so I stocked up on #16's.

Joni, you prompt a good question. Seems to me if you're fishing 20x+ flies, hook gap becomes a problem. So a straight eye doesn't "close the gap" as much as a standard "down-eye".

As I only use bl hooks,I prefer Fulling Mill bl hooks which are light and strong enough,at a very good price.

i actually use a few different brands for specific fly patterns, but the majority of my flies are tied on hook & hackle hooks, which are modeled on the mustad patterns, but much cheaper.

I mostly use Tiemco hooks since it is what my local shop mostly has. There are specialty hooks that I use from Targus (only the Saltwater ones though. Their trout hooks aren't that great), Eagle Claw, Gamakatsu, Partridge, and Daiichi.
