Allen XL 7/8wt reel/ WF8wt line

Box came in last weekend and inside were the new XL reel and some line from Allen & Co, listed are some pics and a how to switch from right to lest hand reel use.





First impressions are that this reel look just like a Cabela's SLA reel, though I do not own one to compare, I have played around with them at the store.


Also ordered a spool of "green" WF8wt line, you'll notice this line come with a built in loop, something not often found with line at this price point.

Sealed bearings and very few tool marks on a fully machined reel


Switching from right to left is simple

remove cap nut off of back of spool, tap the spool onto something that will not mar the spool (I used a hard covered book) and out should pop the inner thrust bearing, simply take bearing and flip it around and reinstall in reverse order.


all lined up ready to go, will try it out on steels here in about 2 weeks as soon as I get a free time off of the day job.
