I just purchased the Lamson Konic 2 reel. The first impression was that of the reels finish. It looks like bead blasted stainless steel although It isn't.
I decided to compar it directly against the Lamson Litespeed to determine if they maintained their quality and here is what I saw.Click here to read the entire review

Regardless of what model you buy Lamson makes a fine reel and the drag is the best out of the box engineering there is today. I have not bunt any up yet and I've realy tried to on several salt trips.

Here's the new look. It is now being called the Konic II. From the specs, the dimensions look the same between the original and the new.

Original Konics are on clearance all over the interwebs, if you are looking for one.

I had to come back and ask, does anyone have a problem with the reel feet being a bit big? I tried to slip my 2 on a couple of Sage 5wts and felt like I had to jam it in there a bit, much more so than with my Ross reels...

I'm glad to hear all the good stuff about this reel. I'm getting the 1.5 for xmas (shhhhh i'm not supposed to know) I was worried if I had picked a decent reel or not but after reading thru all these posts, i'm sure I will be happy with it.

I have both the 1.5 and the 2. No problems with either.

Very pleased with my Konic 4 and it balances perfect on my BVK 9 wt . The drag is outstanding. Great reel for the price!

Ive got a 3.5 I used on a 4 wt. switch (deer creek 4110). It has been flat out awesome. Granted- it's pretty rare for me to get a trout on the reel, but when you need it, the drag works smoothly. The price is outstanding- and they are on sale right now at MRFC. No regrets
