Fly Line Opinions

Recently, I came into the ownership of a 7ft 3/4wt. This will be my primary small stream rod and a backup to my 2wt.

I was looking at either one of these lines:

Cortland 333 Long Belly WF for $27 + shipping

Cortland 10M DT for $15.00+shipping

Any opinions on these? Any other suggestions? I'm on a budget (like just about anyone else around here), so I try to be ultra frugal.

Also, the rod is rated at 3/4wt, is this 3DT and 4WF?

Yeah, it sounds like it would be 3DT and 4WF.

But if the 4wf is "long belly", I'm not sure what that means as as far as head length? Is the "long belly" because of a short, heavy head section?

I haven't used Cortland lines in a while so hopefully someone else will chime in, but I'm thinking the 3DT might be a better line assuming you're fishing small streams with it that may involve roll casting--- oh, and it's cheaper!

I agree with Mark a dt3 should be better.Cortland lines are not as good as SA or Rio but this one is really cheap so...

You are better off using a DT3 line for creekin'. I haven't used a Cortland floating line for a long time, but at those prices, it's not a bad buy. If you wear it out quickly, you are only out a few bucks.

And if you do wear it out, if it's a DT you can reverse it--- so you can wear it out twice.... not bad for 15 bucks.

Axle,

You know I'm gonna tell you to go DT, so I will. DT
