i went to the ross shop in helena today, and they had sold the 4 canyon and only had the 5... he said the 5 would do double duty for 8weight and 9 weight with enough backing/drag any nland fish.. so i fell in love with it... ds2 8 weight and the canyon big game 5, what say you all?.. (i have a ross evlolution 3.5 so that carries the light end of this spectrum, i love it on my 7 weight sage ds... ...........dave

I would think the Canyon 5 would be a little too heavy and the 4 would balance better, but I could be wrong. Remember that just putting the reel on the rod and seeing how they balance doesn't really tell the tale. the weight of the fly line and backing will have an effect as well.

I'd rather hunt fish than bait deer any day.
