Default Spotted Bass, But Brought Wrong Rod Sections!

I ran over to the local stream this afternoon, and was brought an 8'6" 4wt.
After peeking into the stream from above, I spotted two bass hanging a couple feet from the bank, and in about 12 inches of water. I ran back to my
Jeep, put on my waders and vest, and began to assemble the rod. It quickly
became apparent that I had mixed sections of my 8'6" ZXL 4wt with sections
of my 8'6" ZXL 5wt !!!! I jumped into the Jeep, and dashed home as
fast as legally possible (it's only a one mile trip anyway). I dash back to the
stream, certain that the bass are gone, but tie on a #12 Madam X. After
entering about 100 yards upstream, I close in on the spot, and get a small
rock bass. A couple more casts, and BAM! Got one . I thought they were
smallmouth, but turned out to be largemouth. The one I caught was 13", and
made my day !

Here's a video: CLICK HERE I thought
it was a smallmouth until I landed it, so ignore the smallmouth comments.
The wall in the background was the vantage point from which it was originally
spotted.

At least the river is close! The closest one i fish is 35-45 miles away. I went out and bought another 6 weight for a spare and though about mixing up the sections. They are both St. Croix rods and are real close in color so ill have to be carefull. Congrats on the nice bass.
