I ran over to the local stream this afternoon, and was brought an 8'6" 4wt.
After peeking into the stream from above, I spotted two bass hanging a couple feet from the bank, and in about 12 inches of water. I ran back to my
Jeep, put on my waders and vest, and began to assemble the rod. It quickly
became apparent that I had mixed sections of my 8'6" ZXL 4wt with sections
of my 8'6" ZXL 5wt
!!!! I jumped into the Jeep, and dashed home as
fast as legally possible (it's only a one mile trip anyway). I dash back to the
stream, certain that the bass are gone, but tie on a #12 Madam X. After
entering about 100 yards upstream, I close in on the spot, and get a small
rock bass. A couple more casts, and BAM! Got one
. I thought they were
smallmouth, but turned out to be largemouth. The one I caught was 13", and
made my day

it was a smallmouth until I landed it, so ignore the smallmouth comments.
