Bushwacker is on a distinguished road
Default Hy-Flote Leader and Fluorocarbon Tippet

Who has used this combination for dry fly fishing? Does it work like advertised?

Hi Bushwacker,

I see your post has worked its way down the page and no one has responded. I have not used the combination you are asking about. I don't see anything much different except Orvis claims the Hy-Flote floats better than other mono leaders. If that is true then it may be a good combination. If you are dry fly fishing with tiny flies then the sinking Fluor tippet may effect the way the fly sits. When I use mono tippets and fish a dry fly I usually sink than last 6" or so of the tippet.

Bushwacker this next item is meant for all members. Since this is a leader thread here is a link to an article that measures the stiffness of leaders. I am disappointed they didn't include Frog Hair but my favorite tippet material, Dai Riki Velvet, is very flexible.

Frank
