Default sink rate type choice?

I'm thinking of getting Type 6 sink tip fly line with 15' sink tip. With the rate at 5-6" per second, would there ever be situations where this rate is too fast? Most of time I'd be using in knee to chest deep water with streamers. Thanks.

I have a TYPE VII. On hot summer days it is the answer. But I use it on stillwater. It gets past the dinks fast.
Rivers, I max out on a IV, but I like full sink. MUCH easier to cast.
