Default banned felt soles

I just read were Maryland has banned felt soled wading boots to prevent the spread of invasive species such as Didymo. That makes three states to my knowledge, Alaska, Maryland and Vermont. Alaska takes effect in 2012

There are plenty of wading shoes out there with rubber soles that won't spread aquatic disease. I just made the change to rubber soled boots. I don't regret it.

I figured this was coming. I got a bit of money for Christmas, so I purchased a set of Korker's Cross Currents. I have the felt soles (came with it), the hiking sole and a rubber wading sole.

New newest generation is even better because you don't have to take the boots off to change them out....

I'm surprized this isn't happpening in more places and faster.
Just remember that rubber soles are not the be all end all to this problem. You still need to completely dry your gear and/or treat it to kill off unwanted passengers. Shoes, waders, tubes, boats.

I picked up these.
Men's Fishing Boots / River Guard™ Ultralight Wading Boot with EcoTraX Soles -- Orvis

I like them much better than my other boots. I have loads more traction in the river now thanks to the studs.
