Default Fly Fishing Gear FAQ - Lucky Hats

Mark,

That's a nice FAQ that you put together on fly fishing gear to get started.

However, since JStoner is just starting out, we certainly wouldn't want him to make any mistakes in his selection of gear; particularly if it could have a potential negative effect on his fishing.

So, as a native of the North Shore in Massachusetts, I feel that it's in his best interest to clarify that Boston Red Sox ball caps can definitely be "lucky hats" when fly fishing; as long as they're not worn by someone from Eastern New York or New Jersey.

I don't break out my lucky Red Sox hat until the fall run
Any earlier and it looses some of it's mojo

Yup -I'll be at a Portland Sea Dogs game tomorrow night; it's a farm team for the Red Sox. It's geat to watch pro-level ball being played by people who aren't making a million dollars every time they step up to the plate!

I think at least one of them fly fishes (relevancy comment)!

When we fish Cape Cod, we try to make to a Cape Cod League game.
The teams are made up of college players (and future pros) so there's some good competition, and best part is that it's free.
The league has been together for 114 years.

I, of course, route for the Chatham Anglers

So..... since I live in the Pittsburgh area and we have the only single A farm team pretending to be a Major League team ... anyone care to send me a hat and make me an honorary fan?

I've long thought that the Toledo Mud Hens had the coolest name of all AAA teams
You can find their hats on line
