I ran into a guy I had not seen in a couple of years and asked what he's been up to. He started raising pheasant. I asked If he had Golden or other kinds. He didn't but said he has a freind who raises red and yellow goldens, amherst, and reeve's. He's looking to get rid of them. I offered to take a few :icon_bigg. Now that that's explained, what do I do with them? Is tanning or salting them something you can do at home? Am I just better off plucking and bagging the feathers? If I had been earlier finding out about this I could have had impeyan as well.

Diver Dan: What I do is lay the skin out and rub lots of salt over the skin and let it dry for several days. Then I put it in a plastic bag and stick it in the freezer (when the wife isn't looking) for a few days to kill any bugs that might be in the feathers. You can also use borox to tan the the skin.
