Default Fly Fishing Western Massachusetts

Hi,
I just started fly fishing this past summer, and so far I don't know of any places to fish for trout near my house (in Waltham Massachusetts). I have gone up to New Hampshire a couple of times to fish, but I would like to find a nice place to fish closer to home (less than twenty minutes away would be great).

I went to a local fly shop, and they recommended Stony Brook in Weston, and the Charles River (im not sure how I feel about fishing in the Charles, it's not the cleanest of rivers). Has anyone fished Stony Brook before or have any other suggestions of where to fish?

Also, can anyone recommend any good fly patterns to use in these rivers. I like the thought of dry fly fishing better, but anything that works would be fine.

Thanks a lot!

I love that dirty water
'Oh oh, Boston, you're my home
Gee, I hope you meant eastern Mass not western

The Charles has cleaned up considerably since the Standells 1966 hit, Dirty Water
I don't fish there myself, but a bunch of guys over on the Reel-time forum fish there all the time
Carp, bass, stripers, and pan fish, depending on where you are.
I was out in western Mass Thursday, East branch of the Westfield, just west of Northhampton
Real nice river, lots of access
