I cant find it now ,but I read a interesting article on these this summer.longliners in the ocean did a test on different hooks and these out did the others like ten to one.even more amazing was when they used a snell knot on them.brother likes to jug fish for cats, and we tried them this summer,I like them!what ive found though is if your using them on a rod you need to just tighten your line until you feel the fish on,if you give a hard hookset they tend to pull out of a fishes mouth.I cant think of a time when one swallowed a hook though, which is really nice.

Hi stannard2,

The circle hook has been used for many years in saltwater fishing with bait. They work because the fish takes the bait and swims away hooking its self. A long time favorite with Halibut fishers.
