Default jungle fowl

hi there i was looking for a reasonbly priced jungle cock cape and can not find any that i can afford and refuse to pay stupid prices for a few of the feathers and the idea come to mind that i could buy a few and breed them and sell there feathers and that to finance new tackle and a trip to alaska i really want to do .. I used to breed chickens turkeys , rheas and ducks when i was growing up as a little money earner and was wondering if i would be allowed to raise jungle fowl or would i need a special licence and that and if they special requirements i have found a places that breed and sell then in Ohio and would be willing to go pick them up but i am wondering what your thoughts would be on the matter and would it be worth the trouble.
i was also thinking of getting a few pheasants and maybe a peacock to save me some money

many thanks
vince

There was an article in one of the fly-fishing mags several years ago (more than five, I think), about Whiting hackle- they were trying to raise jungle fowl and were running into difficulties with stress in the birds, the specifics I'm not sure of.

By all means though, it'd be a neat experiment. Good luck!

Any shop that carries Spirit River products can source Jungle Cock skins for you. There are two grades. Grade A is the best quality. B is considered good quality. There are more usable feathers with Grade A skins.

Grade A skins run about $189.95.
Grade B skins run about $169.95.

Angler's Workshop has 3 grades, Super with almost no splits and many sizes, for $194.95. Grade A with limited splits and many sizes for $149.95. Grade B suitable for fishing flies with more splits and may have fewer feathers. None of them scare weiner dogs. I've used Angler's Workshop for a lot of things, and have not been sorry for any of it. If you build rods, they had the best cork I have ever seen. $3.50 a ring though. But it was worth it. They also have a lot of hard to find materials.
