Default Re: Booby Fly Won't Float

The truth is that, if a boobie is fished properly, they are no more dangerous to fish than a dry fly. What actually happens is people fish them in the UK on a static intermediate line (I.E no retrieval) and wait for the bite. This is where the problem arises, not from fishing a moving sinking line, every fish I have caught on a boobie was hooked in its scissors and the majoirty returned unhurt (the rest in the pot) as I only use barbless hooks!

Default Re: Booby Fly Won't Float

From what I understand, in the UK the biggest problem was that the fish would take the whole fly in- swallow it, more or less. I was talking to Jesse Riding this last Saturday at the IF Fly Tying Show. I asked him about the Booby Eyes that they carry. If it's not floating right, get the next size up.
