My favorite stream is fairly high up in the Sierras. It is the first place I ever fished with a fly. On my second cast I caught a 4" (non-native of course) brookie. There is a ton of access and some rather hungry fish because the landscape is mostly granite. No need for pruning shears there. I visit there once a year. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been - probably enhanced by the memories.
My gal and I have a trip planned early June. Same stream as in my photo.
I have broken off the ends of brush and branches with my hands to try and retrieve a snagged fly, but never to clear a lane for casting.
