After volumes of help from here, I got a Greys closeout rod from this place. Greys G-Series Fly Rods Closeout Sale
Took its time getting here, but likely my shortcomings, not theirs. Rod arrived fine, and I used it, went back to see some info and noticed the photo had a cork end cap, emailed not really expecting to hear anything back as to why my inexpensive closeout, low end flystick didn't have this cap.
Got this back after two days.

Sorry it took me a couple of days to get back to you but I have been in contact with Greys and they are shipping a replacement cork butt cap directly to you. The piece will go out today and is being shipped from Pennsylvania so I would expect that you should receive towards the end of next week. really, for less than 60.00 bucks I didnt expect to even hear back. So, the bastiges now will be taking more of my money. This only accelerates my need for a 2wt stick now...
About like my experience with "Allens" here- nice for a change, really.

If it's for your 3/4wt rod, the cork butt probably won't fit. Check the butt end of your grip for a threaded hole. If your grip lacks the hole, it's not supposed to have the cork butt.

Typically the cork "fighting butts" are on rods over 6wt, usually paired with a full Wells grip.

Hmmm, well, to show what a noob I am, I thought that was to help keep your reel from sitting on rocks/gravel when you screwd with the line, lol.

hehe, I'll post pics when it arrives, looks like the end cap on it now is flat, I'll either tap that, or remove it, depends on what the end cap looks like- I wanted it primarily as my 6wt stick is all scratched up from standing it on end..

place your rod butt in your hat on the ground to keep dirt and such out when stringing the rod. The but might be set up for a "O" ring type cap not a screw in type.

Just for the "wantin ta know"... which rod did ya order to begin with.
I know ya said you were wantin' to get a 2wt. But, which wt. was the rod that started this thread an was missing (?), the fighting butt.

update: well, it arrived... the butt end and handle of a 3/4wt rod...busted in two parts!
I boxed it up, and will send back to the distributor.
Odd mixup, no end cap but an entire bottom section..oy vay.
Honestly they tried above and beyond what I expected, even the work order stated "customer missing butt section" not end cork fighting cap, so a miscommunication on the phone, guess if they understood they would have said "dear nutter, no fighting butt on 3/4 rods" LOL
