Default Why is Fly Fishing so addictive???

I am concerned at to why fly fishing is so addictive? I have cranked, Jigged, YO-YO'd, Trotlined, but could alwasy select a season to do these other forms of fishing which would allow for other activities between these events..Since I started my fly-fishing journey 3 years ago, the weekend can't hardly go by with out at least one trip with the flyrod.. It doesn't have to be THE famous trout, but can be any fish that I can get to take my fly..Some times I even miss some work for mid week trip. DO OTHERS HAVE THIS FLY LINE CASTING PROBLEM?

The more often I fish the more I need to fish..
What really fires me up is what I'm doing tomorrow.
Going to Nashville, grabbing some of my best friends, driving to the Cayney Fork, and fishing I LOVE that river. It's never let me down. It's absolutely gorgeous, and there's nothing better than spending time with a great friend that you don't get to see often doing something you both love to do.

Sure beats going out and getting drunk imho.

I too have done almost every other type of fishing,
but the "CALL OF THE FLYROD" is most defintely
the strongest. In fact the last time I was out in the
river (labor day) I realized that I have not done any
other method (spinning or casting rod) for almost
two years.

I have come to the realization that this "Quiet Sport"
may of us have come to love is the BEST. I relax so much
more & definitely catch more fish. I would truly think of
selling my other equipment, if they were not treasures
that have been handed down to me from my father.

KEEP RIGHT ON USING THAT FLYROD,

Always in the water (with a flyrod)

It's all about the challenge. Not necessarily between your and the fish but rather the challenge between you and your own mind.

There is a satifaction factor there. Bait chucking doesn't really satisfy me. Where's the skill in trolling? Throwing a crankbait to a bass does take skill- thumbing the spool to the right distance. But how long would it take, a couple hundred casts to start to get your accuracy down? I haven't done it, so I could be up in the night on that one.
Watching a good fly caster is akin to watching MJ play basketball.
Graceful and accurate and the 'how in the hell does he do that" question.
Most new (and some not so new) ff'ers want to cast the distance. Get it out 100' into the backing. I did that at one time. Then I saw Gary Borger cast at a FF'ing show. Curve casts, reach, tuck you name it. He could do it without thinking. And gracefully. That's where the addiction comes in. Throwing a cast around a boulder and picking up the fish you are targeting. It does become addictive. Even the misses are part of the addiction.
Also building your own rod, leaders, and tying your own flies.
