Default Jackson, WY

I am heading out to Jackson Hole for labor day weekend for the first time. I am not looking for secret holes or anything like that but am looking for flies that are working these days, any books that might be helpful, fly shop recommendations, etc....

Dornans Snake River Anglers for fly shops! Flies will be tough to call as all our hatches are a bit off with this years high waters. Right now you would want PMD's for sure, Adams , Parachute hares ears small royal wulfs work good too. Stimi's, PMX's chernobyls. Streamers I'd definitely have some JJ Specials, Buggers in black and olive, Zoo Cougars, Butt Monkeys. As for nymphs I'm not much help since I am not a nympher! The folks at the shop can give you more specific recommendations when you get here!!

I'd offer to go fishing but I have family in town then and will be busy. Maybe able to find time for a beer or coffee though so give a shout. I can at least direct you to some good opportunities.

Thanks Davo. We'll be around for a beer Saturday evening if you're around. Would love to talk fishing.

fishtacos

I check the schedule and found my family does not come until the 6th. My work schedule has me on call Saturday and on Patrols Saturday night. My days off are Thursday and Friday. Love to talk some fishing!! Just can't do the beer when on duty!!

Yes it is. I went up Granite creek yesterday about 7 miles back and caught several nice fish in the 16-18" range. It seems like there is way more water there this year than last year, but the fish seem bigger too. And yellow stimulators and club sandwiches were the flies of the day.

Enjoy your vacation in God's Country!

Davo, sorry we did not get a chance to meet up. What a fantastic place you live in. Sent off about 10 resumes to the area in the past week.
