Just saw these at a show recently. i got a pair and they work great. Fish Hands Free . I will be testing them out this weekend.

I dont think it is a bad idea, just easy to copy. I think it is rather expensive for what it is though. 10 for the product and another 5 to ship.

It is a good idea, but yes, definitely one that could be easily copied. But if they could get them on the wall in a good spot in a Bass Pro/Cabela's store and priced at $7.95, they would sell like crazy!

One problem though, if you had your rod in the thing, dropped something, and leaned over to pick it up with your left hand: SNAP GOES THE ROD TIP! This will likely happen to LOTS of users of the handy device. Then there's the possibility of tangles when fishing in brushy streams. My right armpit has served me well for this function over the years and I'm not planning to retire it yet.

I know this was brought up on another forum, But i gotta say it here. The guy is wearing a vest, right? that little velcro flap on the upper left chest and that loop on the bottom right of a vest are made for rods, not sunglasses.
Don't know about you guys, but when I am wearing my vest I use it all the time. If I am wearing a fishing shirt, I put the rod in the velcro and stick the butt of the rod in my front pocket on the right side. Hands free for crossing rivers, showing off fish, whatever, but the rod is Verticle, not Horizontal.

I prefer the rod vertical also.

It just wouldn't seem right not to tuck the rod under my armpit.

Some gadgets catch on in fly fishing. I don't see this one doing so. It seems to work OK but the concept just doesn't seem right to me. I just can't see a fine gentleman... a self respecting fly fisher, bore several holes in his perfectly good fly vest to mount this thing... much less be caught using one while standing knee deep in some pristine stream. I may be wrong... but I just can't picture this in my mind.
