Default 6/0 tying thread

Could someone give me the specs on its diameter?

Thread strengths and diameters vary quite a bit from one mfg to the next, and so do preferences from one to the next. I have used 6/0 thread from Uni, Danville, and Gudebrod, and like gudebrod the best by far. Its got a nice light waxing to hold dubbing, and has the right combo of strength and low bulk.

For larger flies and those with the dumbell/bead chain eyes where you need to crank down pretty hard, I greatly prefer Danville's Flat Waxed. Also works well for spinning hair, though not my favorite. That goes to Gudebrod G. It seems to stay more round and I think this works best for flaring hair without cutting it.

After looking at that second link, I see why I am such a big fan of Danville's Flat Waxed Nylon- its stronger than Gudebrod G and doesn't bulk up nearly as fast. Thanks for that Terry.

I'd rather hunt fish than bait deer any day.
