Question How many rods & do you have a favorite setup ?

Good Day,

How many Fly Rods you own ? No, I am not prying, but
just curious as to what you have on hand that you use
on a regular basis. Do you have a favorite setup ? You
know that particular rod/reel that you reach for when you
head out to meet up with your friends, or by yourself.

I personally own 5 Fly Rods that allow me to pursue any
type of fish that swims in Michigan waters. I own a 3, 4,
5, 7 & 9 weight Fly Rods. My personal favorite would be my
first setup that my wife bought me for our 25th wedding
anniversary. It is my 2 piece 5wt Scott Voyager with a Ross
Cimmaron reel. I have used that rod more than the others.

What about you, do you have a favorite ?

Always in the Water,
Tie one On

Hmmmm....

I've got 4 Sages...does that make me a Sage addict? I got a 5 wt Launch a couple years ago, but it's pretty much been relegated to a back up. My 5 wt SLT/Lamsom V1.5 is super sweet and I've caught some 'bows pushing 25". It'll be my go-to on the San Juan next month. I think I'm in love with my 3 wt TXL with a Ross CLA 1.0 though. It seems like all I have to do is think about where I want my fly to land and bingo! I got a new Xi2 10 wt yesterday to go with my Lamson Lightspeed 4 reel. An afternoon in the park tells me it's gonna be a great outfit. 3 weeks and counting before I hit the coast at our place on Galveston Bay and I'm hoping for some green water along the beachfront.

I also have an old Browning glass in storage back in AZ that I haven't used in several years. Don't rememebr the model, but I think I paid around 150 back around 1974? Maybe I'll get nostalgic one of these days and dust it off.

Who would have thunk flyfishing could be more 'spensive than cow pasture pool (golf)?

Phil

I have 6 rods. I have 2 Scott 5wts, a sage LL 379, a Sage DS 6wt, a custom 9ft 3wt and a Custom 8 wt. My favorite rod is the Lightline by far, just got it back from the factory the other day with new tip number 3. I fish the LL with a Ross Rhythm but looking forward to fishing it with my new SA reel, not sure of the model. My favorite San Juan rod is the custom 3wt, long enough to mend but soft enough to protect 6X tippet!! Juan is fishing amazing right now by the way

I own the following:

Winston 4 piece "BoronIIx" 5wt 9' (Fast, strong, my nymphing rod of choice)

March Brown 4wt 9'
March Brown 5wt 9'
March Brown 8wt 9'
(all the March Browns are "Hidden Waters" 7 piece travel rods, relatively fast action, break down very compact)

St Croix "Triumph" 4 piece 7'6" 4wt (softer, shorter rod I bought to teach my kids to cast/fish with.)

George Maurer 7'6" 2/2 4 weight bamboo
Chris Bogart 7'9" 2/2 5 weight bamboo

I fish the bamboos the most when I'm dry fly fishing, and the Winston when I'm nymphing.

7'9" 3wt TFO Lefty Kreh Finesse; Galvan Standard 2.75
8'6" 4wt Winston Vapor; Ross Revolution 3
9' 5wt Sage Z Axis; Galvan Standard 3.25
9' 7wt Sage Z Axis; Ross Evolution 3.5

I really look forward to and enjoy fishing them all but believe it or not, my favorite is probably the Vapor/Ross. It just feels good. I'm still getting acquainted with the 5wt Z though and once I figure it out, I think I'm really going to like it.

I have a 4wt, 5 wt, and a 7 wt that I use often. I just gave a 5wt away to a youngster who has a desire to learn to flyfish.

Like many others on this site I have a lot of rods (20) and only use a few. My favorite would be my Scott 4wt. It's great for trout but can also fling some of the bigger bass bugs.
