Default Fishing in the Palm Coast Fl area-

I'll be headed to Palm Coast Florida for some training this coming spring and will have some free time to do some SW fishing. Any members in the area or can anyone point me in a decent direction. Just from looking at the maps it looks like the Intercoastal should provide some fun. I have SW experience and will arrive with plenty of Clousers and other flies as well as my Scott 8 weight.

As for preferred target species- these days it doesn't really matter to me. I can have a blast with a school of Jacks or Specks. But, if I could get a shot at a Redfish or two I would not complain.

I believe you'll have both snook and redfish pushing up into the intercoastal in that area but I'm not wholly familiar with it. Depending on when you're there, you might want to look at getting in some tarpon fishing, its one heck of an experience, but would definitely out-class your 8wt! I haven't fished tarpon on the fly yet, but I've been told for the 40lb babies () that a 9 is about the bottom end, and that you want 12+ for the big 'uns.

Thanks- I have tarpon fished in Southern Fl, the Flamingo area and it is a great time. These were some of the smaller fish of wintertime and a 9 wt was fine.
