Default help me tie a good blood knot ...quicker?

I like to use a blood knot for the connection between leader and tippet. I know the procedure...that is, I know what the knot is and where all the lines need to go but the problem is simply getting it tied while I am still young. Whenever I have to tie one I feel like I am sitting on the bank fiddling with tippet for way too long. So, my question is, does anyone have any good blood knot tying devices, aides, or techniques for getting one tied quickly and correctly? FYI, my usual technique is start by pinching a toothpick between the two lines to keep the center hole open.

overlap the two tag ends by 3 inches, use a hackle plier and clamp in the middle of the overlap leaving a little gap. Finish wrapping with your hands, then when ready to pull tight remove the hackle pliers.

Don't use a blood knot....use a loop to loop connection...easy to tie, resistant, quicker when you want to change your tippet.(you can even have ready to use tippets in your pocket)

Hi Marty,
My suggestion is to grab a big ol' spool of old tippet or pick up a spool of cheap mono, go sit on the couch while watching a game or something on the TV and practice tying the nail knot over and over and over using the method you are most accustomed to using. Tie it a couple hundred times and you'll become faster.

I still do this during the slower months just to keep the fingers limbered up.

That is a great idea! This is one of those "what's the matter with me? How didn't I think of that?" Moments.

I tye blood knots when I'm building leaders at home; I use triple surgeon knots when I'm on stream, just as strong as a blood knot and a whole lot quicker.

There is another way I tie it , but it's not a "true blood knot" Hard to explain but I'll try. The blood knot has the to ends going thru the middle in different directions once you twisted the line. My way, the two ends go thru the middle in the same direction. To do this tie the two lines together with a knot,
overlap the two lines so the knot is hanging down, twist the two lines and run the knot thru the middle. Just as fast as a double surgeons knot. Takes a little practice with your fingers

Use Hemostats to twist the lines and grab the end and it's easy.

This is what I use most of the time.
