Default One Year, One Stream

Curious as to how many different flys you will use on one particular stream, creek or river in the course of one year. Not counting color changes, just fly patterns, as in midges (3) , streamers (3), dry(2) and wets (2). Don't include experiments either just the stuff that works sometime during the year.

My answer is 10 for the Lil Red

If Ard or anyone wishes to put this thread into a Poll format, they have my permission.

Dave

Hi Dave,

We'll talk about getting you into the poll game later today. I just use wet flies here, they are big and some are feather wing streamers. All wets all the time.

For the Rainy River, it depends on the year. If the fish are cooperative 4 or 5. When they are not like they were this year, at least 15.

Cant really say for sure, maybe 9 or 10 different drys, 5-6 different nymphs/wets, really only 1 or 2 streamers since I dont fish those that much. This is for the Big Green River.

The river I fish/float most often normally 3-4 flies will suffice, a Yellow/White Zoo Cougar, a golden bodied Stimulator, PMD's sometimes trailed by a small PT Nymph.

Realistically all the rivers I fish could be fished effectively with no more than a half dozen flies chosen specifically for that river....but I still carry way more boxes in the boat bag than I will ever need.
