Default Somerset Show - Fly Casting or Tying Classes - Are They Worth it?

I'm going to the show in Somerset next week. I saw that Bob Jacklin and Bob Clouser are holding a class for casting and A.K. Best and Eric Stroup are holding tying classes. Having never gone to one of these shows, does it make sense to take one of these classes? Are they worth the cost/effort, or are there too many people that it's pointless?

I attended a casting seminar with Bob Clouser a few years ago. He's a character in the same vein as Lefty. I'm not sure how much I learned, but I sure enjoyed being there.
I've had the opportunity to tie with quite a few of the fly fishing "personalities" (including A.K.) and I've always learned something.
Once at the Malborough show I got a chance to tie one on one with Jack Gartside, one of my fly fishing heros and an afternoon that I'll always remember
Plan out your day at the show in advance. Go to as many (free) seminars as you can.

Definitely go to as many seminars as you can. Make sure that you see Ozzies video presentation too. What day are going To the show? I'll be there Sat at the CJTU booth all day. Stop in & ask for Neil & I'll even let you buy the first beer. Bob Jacklin is one hell of a nice guy. & a friend so his presentations are always worth going to

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm coming down Sat morning and leaving on Sunday. I keep going back between Eric Stoup's Fly tying and Bob Jacklin's Casting. I guess I'll sleep on it tonight and make a decision in the morning.

I think they're definitely worth going to. I've tied on a couple of occasions with the celebrity tyers and I've always learned something. I also grabbed some casting time with Steve Rajeff last year and that was really worth it.

Now that I'm in MA and not in the Poconos, I don't go to the Somerset show anymore and I missed the Marlborough show this weekend due to some health problems in my family; but it was on my list....................

I've gone to Somerset for 3 years and I like the tying demo's. You can watch them for free, they project it on a screen and you can see all the steps. You can also go watch professional tiers tie all day at theri individual booths. They give you great advice at no expense other than what it costs to get in the door.
I'm Brooks and we have a booth, A Classic Journey Outfitters, come by and say hello if you get a chance and we'll talk some fly fishing. This show is fun and offers alot.

I'll be at the Somerset show in the 4 Points booth. I agree with the guys....go see all that you can! If you want to avoid the crowds, go Sunday.
