You are right on the quality control from China....Look at Mattel!
China slit their own throats on that one.

Hi to all,

I sent an Email to SA and RIO asking where their premium lines are made. I head back from RIO and this is what they had to say.

"Hello,

Thank you for your email. Every RIO fly line is made in Idaho, USA. &
Every premium fly line produced in the world today is manufactured outside of Asia.
I hope this info helps, please email back if you have anymore questions.

Kind regards,"

I will post the reply from SA when I get it.

I am involved in the manufacturing world and I will tell you what Steve is telling you is fact. There is no such thing as patents to a China manufacturing company. Sometimes they will copy a product down to a bad transistor. However, sometimes they will change the product to fit what they have available in raw materials. Knowing much about how this process works, my guess would be that the lines are a bargain. Too bad we do not protect our North America manufacturers more so.

Guys and Gals:

My POV: patents and copying are a different issue'''for me" it's simply profiteering excessive...tell me where it's made and it's retail price to me simple..I will make my purchasing decison accordingly...BUT do not hide chinese and expect me to pay double for the label...call it the nike factor...
their treatment of employees and vendors notwithstanding...when you buy at walmart/sams it's chinese and for the most part they do not hide it...fly tackle for me it all started with a company that i have been tooo ...many times had my cane wes jordan purchased and later cleaned and pressed...when they took the made in england label off the mach and did not put made in china on the reel but hide it in the box...that's what started my label origin check tell me do not hide it

You know this is an issue which is a very significant part of my life. It makes me very happy that so many of you have an awareness and strong feelings towards the profiteering of retailers, suppliers, and manufacturers. There is not that much left which is truely American. Many of what is thought to be an U.S. product or company is now owned by foreigners or foreign banks. The "made in label" requirements have many grey areas, so it is hard to enforce. In defense of Nike, they do continue to manufacture here in the states and unlike many other companies they are bringing home more of their manufacturing processes. Unfortunately, China is getting better and stronger in their manufacturing and distribution processes. The China flu will continue to become more rampant and dominent. Sorry I could on all day about this so off the soap box for now.
