peacock herl
i have seen tiers top deceivers and other minnow flies with peacock herl, what is the function of this?

Because its the greatest. And it gives that dark, iridescent effect that's seen on the backs of many baitfish. But basically because it's the greatest. Definitely my favorite tying material.

Herl Great stuff . Wish it could be copied synthetically. Breaks easy. Looks so real.

Peacock Herl and Flashabou, are both great materials that can add a little zing to your ties. I have to agree that Herl is number one though, don't leave home without it. Heck, you can catch fish with a hook wrapped in peacock herl and nothing else - especially when midges are hatching.

Guess I better stop using thread, head cement, flashabou, tinsel,fiberhair,foam,epoxy and soft skin.
