Default Thanks...I'm all set!

I appreciate all the feedback about me getting into fly fishing. The advice was very helpful, and overwhelming but I learned a lot in a very short time.
I bought my outfit today at a local fly shop:

Redington Red Fly 9' 5wt 2-piece w/ Rio line.

Casting it felt great, and I can't wait to get out on the water...hopefully next week.
Thanks again for all your help and suggestions!

Thanks MP, I'm looking forward to getting it wet. I was a little concerned that it was a "fast action" as I almost went with a CT medium action. Fly shop guide told me it really is more of a medium fast action. At any rate, can't wait to get started.
Thanks again.

Thanks again.

I don't see how they call it a fast action.

I compared a Redington RF2 and a Redington Crosswater, both in 8 wt and neither me or the salesman could tell a difference in the actions at all. Even though the RF2 is supposed to be a fast action and the Crosswater closer to medium.

frntrnge: Now the fun really begins, hope you enjoy that nice outfit. Keep us posted on your fishing adventures. Fly fishing is a life time learning experience. Today I saw some sage advice on the Doug Swisher web site:
Whether you're Fly Fishing for Trout or Tarpon, you must master the two real basics of Fly Fishing: Selecting the Right Fly and making the Proper Cast.

These are what I call the Two P's of Fly Fishing - Pattern & Presentation.

One is no good without the other.

Flyfishing is a great activity...Just complicated enough to take your mind off of everything else.

Glad to hear you like the RedFly2, i just game mine to my wife after she caught her first 3" largemouth and 12-13" native rainbow within 5 minutes of each other on it. BTW if someday you decide to get another more rods, the RedFly2 with SA Nymph taper makes an awesome dedicated Nymph/ streamer rod and but still light enough to drop a #16 light cahill right where you want it (within reason) without much surface disturbance. good luck and welcome to an expensive and very soothing addiction.

Yep...very much looking forward to all of this. I'm under no illusiuon that this is something to be picked up quickly. Thankfully a couple guys I work with also fly fish so I have some people to go out and learn with....although they admit they still are trying to figure it all out after a few years.
If nothing else I get to spend a day standing in a beautiful river casting flies and enjoying the mountains.
We'll see.
Thanks again for everything.
