Default Got what I deserved?

Decided to take the baitcasting rod to the local lake and catch a mess of catfish last night. The weather was stormy and I figured the catfish would go on a feeding binge.

A bad storm front passed over soon after I arrived (thunder, lightning, and a very hard downpour) but I was in a reasonably safe location, so I donned the rainsuit and stuck with the fishing.

After the brief storm passed it turned into a beautiful setting. Ducks on the water, fish (bass & panfish) rising to slurp insects off the surface as the sun set, and I was bullheaded enough to stick with the catfishing and not give in and run to the truck to get a fly rod.

3-4 hours and not as much as a single bite from a catfish.
Tried a variety of bait (mud leeches, cut bait, and prepared dough balls) and no takers at all.

Oh, well.
Lesson learned!
Today it's back to the fly rod for me!

Oh man Mike! You must've REALLY done something bad! =)

Naaaahhhhh... You din't get what you deserved-- that would imply that you did something less than ethical. I'd say that you just got unlucky. "That's why they call it fishing and not catching..." comes to mind-- you'll find them next time.

I agree, just not your day. I use many types of tackle, it's still just fishin'! Time & place for it all IMO!
