Another option would be silicone, spray on and wipe the excess.

Any product with petroleum(wd-40, etc.) will destroy a fly line, you might as well put paint thinner on it..not sure with silicone I'll have to check with the factory on that one, I would only recommend a product that is made for the line and guides...I like ginger tea before going out it opens the blood vessels to promote heating of extremities, so does eating and putting cayenne pepper in your socks...this works, I'm diabetic and use this method all the time...
