Smile Back from Austria...once more.

Just back from Austria.I spent eight days fishing with my son Nico.We first stayed at the Gasthof Forelle for five days.We were not very lucky with the weather for it rained nearly every night and the waters were higher than usual. We could fish different sections of the Tux creek .I’ve fished it several times but I’m still amazed by the density of fish, mainly browns, some bows and this year the owner of the lodge stocked a section with little brookies which according to me isn’t a very good idea. These little fish jump on the flies like mad and it’s hard to catch a trout…For someone used to fast waters techniques the Tux is a great “game field”As usual we fished on dry with two different flies and we could notice once more how attractive the black Hi Vi is!!!Nico who’s an expert at skimming past hollow banks , fishing pocket waters and archways of branches did the show…A guy watched us for at least an hour and he was telling everyone what he had seen at the lodge bar when we got back in the evening.False modesty is sometimes pleasant.LOL.As I’ve already said we had a cloudy or rainy weather… on the only sunny day the snow melted and the creek got “grey”…after a quick look at the map we noticed two tributaries and we decided to fish them ,that was a good idea because the water was clear on both of them.On the first one we could catch browns, bows and brookies on the second one only bows in a beautiful scenery. Our last day on the Tux was great, the fish were active …we had several “doubles”which can be problematic when you’ve only got one net.Great fishing, beautiful sceneries, good food and…good beer…friendly lodge owners!! what else???

JP: Looks like you and Nico had a great time in Austria despite the wx. Congrats!
Very interesting coloration on that dark colored brown trout.

Looks like heaven JP, I really like the looks of that tributary stream, and a great shot of the double. Is that a ski telepherique behind Nico in pic #2? milt.

That is indeed a pretty spot JP. A perfect place for a 7 1/2' bamboo rod. Thanks for the pics.

Cheers,
Jim

Hey JP!

As always it is a beautiful place to see. You are fortunate to be able to fish there.
