I have the Cortland Retro pn my 6'6" 2wt. It balances perfectly.

I have A Sweetgrass 5'8" 2 wt with hardy
flyweight love it. I have landed some good fish with it also , lots of fun

I recently caught a fatty 17" rainbow on my 1wt in a beaver pond. The fish made several runs at some brush. It was very hard (nerve racking) trying to keep him out of there. The big benefit to the UL in that situation is the tippet protection. The extra rod flex helps prevent your tippet from snapping when "horsing them" around.

It is difficult but can be done...I wouldnt want to do it all the time (well yeah I would )
