This reel was an early player in the mid-arbor, wide spool design concept. It departed from Hardy tradition by having a vertically mounted pawl that engaged gearing inside the spools arbor. Introduced in the early '80s when the $ was strong against the pound, I paid about $35 for it shipped from a British catalog house. It is a too loud, too wide reel that might appeal to a collector of modern Hardy's or, without the emblem, $95 for someone looking for a serviceable, cast alloy reel with a stouter than typical check. There was a plain grey as well is this "Golden" version.
