Default Amercian nymph caught German Grayling!

Hello Fly Fishing Friends,

Went out to my home river Dill today to spend some hours for fishing. The water was clear, but a little high, the weather was a little foggy and temperatures around 3C (~37F).
After a while fishing with bigger nymphs without any result I put on a really tiny nymph, which I baught in a fishing shop in the USA. I never used that nymph, because of its size, but after a short while I got that really nice Grayling of around 14". Of course I released her and went back home with a pretty good feeling - WHAT A GREAT DAY

Hi Thorsten,

It is clear that you love fishing, I am very happy that you post with us here. Your pictures make me want to come to Germany but I know this may not happen. We can however trade our pictures and words through this forum and I just want you to know that I always read what you post.

Thorsten that grayling is so beautiful! I wish that when I was in Germany I had the opportunity to fish for them . And as far as the American fly goes maybe he got tired if wurst and wanted a hotdog! Haha !

Sehr gut!

I also love seeing fish from across the world. Keep it up. Also interested in fishing conditions in: Russia, Mongolia, Burma, Yemen, Israel, Vietnam, Italy, Argentina, Mexico, Antarctica, Slovenia, China, the Falkland Islands, and India.

And anywhere else for that matter. With the internet, the world of fishing is wide open.

Beautiful fish! Thanks for posting the pictures. Germany is one of my wife's favorite places so I might have to find time to check out that stream someday in the future.

I thought the same thing about the red fins. The ones I've seen from Canada do not have the red in them. I realize they are diffrent species of grayling but I've seen pics of European grayling and I don't remember seeing the red fins.

Oh and Thorsten how hard is it to get a fishing license in Germany now? I remember in the 70s when I was there it was not so easy!
