I've got a fishin' buddy with a tube strap. I like it... like most everybody already said, it is best for measuring depth and structure. It also shows water temp. But I don't think there is much purpose to the fish marker.

Garmin 140 for the boats, my fishin buddy has a battery powered floating one he got for like $5 at a garage sale, used it a couple times, does not seem much good except for telling rough depth, or identifying where the drop off is.

I dont use one on my tube, and I usually look for when the weeds disappear, or where fish are active when I am in the tube, but I have often thought about getting one of those portable "fishing buddies" for the tube, I like the one in the boat, and can see a use for one on the tube in the lakes I fish in.
