Those reels were and are bullet proof, as a note Hardy's are now made in South Korea as well as SA reels.

3M bought SA in the early 70's I believe. The first reels marketed by 3M/SA was a Hardy. I still have and use the largest model that they marketed. It is a systems 11. Very run of the mill by todays standards.
