Default Fly Line Question

I have airflo ridge tactical trout line, and when I attached the leader to the fly line loop and I made the knot really tight and I wanted to know if I could be possibly be damaging my fly line? Is that type of fly line usually strong?

P.S. The fly line looks as if it is being somewhat smushed, is that a bad sign?

Can you take picture and show us?

You want that knot to be sleek and sexy so it can slide through your guides easily. If it is too bulky it will catch on your guides and may cause damage. Another thing you want to be carful of is the leader cutting into your fly line. It has happened to me before.

Have fun out there,
Randy

I tie a perfect loop in my leader and run it back threw its self with no problems to date lol but it is possible to hurt or compromise that loop as much so as the rest of the length of the line ... And thumbs up for that guy^^^ make look sleek like a streamer and your guides and line will treat you well for it lol

You don't want to stick the end of the leader through the loop of the leader, that is a girth hitch. What you want to do is slide the loop of the leader over the loop of the fly line, then stick the tippet end of the leader through the loop in the fly line.

Just do a search for loop to loop knots on line. Lots of animated demos to show how to make the proper connect. You will find lots of other useful knots as well.
