I have caught grass carp on a damsel fly dry fly during the damsel fly emergence in June.

They'll take an olive wooly bugger dead drift on the bottom.

San Juan worm or Stonefly nymph would be my top two choices if i didnt have any "carp flies" in my box.

Anything buggy really. Here, have a look at a page on the blog, Fly Carpin. Lots of really good carp flies from a recent fly swap on the Carp Pro forums. There are a couple flies in that mix that are made by members of this forum.

One of the "name" tyer/anglers at a show I went to told the story about staying at a hotel that had a pond with carp every year on the circuit. Every year he'd go down throw a few casts to no avail. The he noticed the carp eating the clippings being blown into the pongd as it was being mowed. He went back to his room and whipped up a "grass fly" out of a green scrub pad. Success!
